The Ore Mountains can be crossed along the Ore Mountains cycle arterial route signed as regional route 23. From Cheb to Sněžník (Schneeberg) near Děčín it is exactly 246 km. During the journey along the mountain ridge you will encounter numerous natural and technical monuments with breathtaking views and rich fauna and flora. Along the route you will cycle through secluded villages and hamlets. The cycle route starts in historic town Cheb (Eger) and continue to famous spa town Františkovy Lázně (Franziskenbad) to Kraslice world known for its music instruments. From here on you have to climb long the Ore Mountains ridge via Bublava to Horní Blatná. Here you can visit local museum featuring the exploitation of ore. The highlight is Blatenský příkop (12 km long water canal which provided water for the mines and factories) unique technical monument of the entire Ore Mountains. Along the canal you can follow an educational path highlighting the history and development of the region. At the end of the canal you reach Boží Dar the highest town of Central Europe. From Boží Dar you have to climb again to the highest peak in Ore Mountains, Klínovec (1244 m). From Klínovec you cycle comfortably to Měděnec and along the ridge and water reservoir Přísečnice and via Načetín, Kalek and Hora Sv. Kateřiny to Klíny with several sports facilities. Next you cycle to Fláje water reservoir, then to Fláje water canal and finally border crossing Cínovec and Fojtovice. From here the route descends slightly across Krásný Les to Nakléřov and Tisá with bizarre rock formations. Last climb is the peak of Sněžník (Schneeberg) near Děčín with a watch tower. You can connect with the Elbe cycle route Děčín where the Ore Mountains cycle arterial route ends.
